No Plans this weekend? Melrose has you covered!

With the winter season still upon us, it’ll be a few months until we can enjoy the thaw of spring and even further still until we can embrace the warmth of summer. And even though the weather has warmed up these past few days, we Calgarian’s know that the weather can change on a dime.

So if you’re looking for a fun way to stay warm and enjoy the nights out this upcoming weekend, why not try one of these activities.

Friday February 20th

If you’re yearning for those long summer nights during the Calgary Stampede, or just feel like getting into the Cowboy spirit, why not join the Calgary Flames for their annual Western Night when they take on the Anaheim Ducks!

Wear your western best and not only cheer on the home team, but take in the sounds of local Country superstar Paul Brandt!

More details here.

Saturday February 21st

Love the winter and not afraid of the cold? Then take in the Audi-Coupe Nor-Am Cup in its final weekend at Canada Olympic Park!

The season comes to an end in March, but you can cheer on both the Men and Women alpine slalom competitors this weekend at the slopes in Northwest Calgary!

The competition started this Tuesday and goes until Sunday and the event is free for spectators. Just visit the Day lodge at Winsport for more information on times and ski hill locations.

Sunday February 22nd

Now if you want something more glamourous and are willing to spend a little money, then join Calgary’s theatre and film lovers for a Night with the Stars!

Taking on a James Bond theme, attendees are encouraged to dress in your 007 best as you enjoy drinks, a silent auction and even an Oscar prediction contest complete with an Oscar feast that coincides with the 87th Academy Awards.

Tickets are priced at $250 for this night of glitz and glamour.

And finally, for the wine connoisseurs out there, you could spend both Friday and Saturday night enjoying hors d’oeuvres and wines from all over the world at the 2015 Wine fest, then stop in at Melrose to see us for a night cap!

So there you go, just a few ways to enjoy the dark and the cold until Winter leaves us and the Spring season approaches. Whatever you decide to do this weekend, just remember to have a fun and safe time. Cheers.
